Overview
About this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the ShareTime iPhone app and the public website at /sharetime/. In this policy, “ShareTime,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the ShareTime app and website.
Your ShareTime account stays yours. Shared couple records are visible to your paired partner. Calendar import is optional and processed on your device unless you intentionally copy details into a ShareTime event. Partner alarm control is optional and can be revoked.
Information
Information we handle
Account and sign-in information
ShareTime uses Firebase Authentication. You may create an account with an email address and password, continue with Google, or use Sign in with Apple. Depending on the sign-in method you choose, we process an account identifier, display name, email address, authentication tokens, and provider information needed to sign you in. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your personal email address.
Profile and uploaded images
You may add a profile photo. ShareTime stores profile photos in Firebase Storage and stores a reference to the photo with your profile. If you choose to personalize event cards with an image, ShareTime also stores that selected event-card background in Firebase Storage.
Shared couple content
ShareTime stores app-created data in Cloud Firestore so your shared space can stay in sync. This can include your invite code and pairing status; profile details; shared calendar events; alarm details; reminders; notes; partner alarm permissions; and related timestamps, ownership, audience, completion, recurrence, location, and sync details. Calendar events can be marked personal or shared. Shared records are available to the paired accounts as described below.
Push notifications and device tokens
If notifications are enabled, ShareTime uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) and Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to help sync app data and deliver alerts about shared activity. We store an FCM registration token associated with your ShareTime account. Notification content may include information such as an event, alarm, reminder, or note title so the alert is useful.
Optional iPhone calendar import
If you choose to connect calendars already on your iPhone, ShareTime requests EventKit calendar access. Selected calendar names and event details are read and displayed on your device. ShareTime does not upload your imported calendar contents as a bulk calendar sync. If you intentionally copy an imported event into ShareTime and save it, the copied event details become ShareTime content and are handled according to the audience you select.
Alarm scheduling
ShareTime stores shared alarm details in Cloud Firestore. On each intended device, the app uses Apple AlarmKit to schedule and manage the corresponding local alarm after the required permission is granted. Shared alarms for a partner require that partner’s approval.
Subscriptions and purchases
ShareTime Plus subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. Apple handles your payment details. ShareTime checks product identifiers, entitlement status, and transaction verification information needed to unlock paid features or restore purchases. We do not receive your full payment card details.
Advertising and consent choices
Free-tier users may see Google AdMob banner advertising. ShareTime uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and respect applicable consent and privacy choices before requesting ads. Depending on your region, consent choices, and platform settings, Google may process information used for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and privacy compliance, such as IP address, device and app information, ad interactions, consent status, and device or advertising identifiers where permitted. Use of Apple’s advertising identifier is subject to your consent and iOS platform settings.
Website early-access information
If you join the early-access list on our website, we collect the first name, email address, and product interest you submit. The website is hosted on Netlify, and Netlify processes form submissions for us.
Website cookies and tracking
The ShareTime website does not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or tracking cookies. We do not use website cookies to track users across apps or websites owned by other companies. Any cookies or similar technologies set by hosting or form infrastructure are used only to provide, secure, or operate the website and are not used by ShareTime for tracking.
Diagnostics
ShareTime and its service providers may process limited diagnostic and operational information to run, secure, and troubleshoot the app and website. This can include app version, device and operating-system information, network or service errors, ad-load errors, crash or performance information when available, and technical logs. Please avoid including sensitive content when contacting support unless it is needed to resolve your request.
Purpose
How we use information
We use information described in this policy to:
- Create, secure, and manage your ShareTime account.
- Pair you with a partner when you choose to connect accounts.
- Sync shared events, alarms, reminders, notes, and profile information.
- Schedule local alarms and send relevant notifications.
- Remember preferences and provide optional calendar-import features on your device.
- Provide paid features, verify entitlements, and restore purchases.
- Show consent-appropriate banner ads to eligible free-tier users.
- Operate, secure, diagnose, improve, and support ShareTime.
- Send early-access or launch updates when you join the website list.
Retention
How long information is kept
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide ShareTime, keep a shared couple space available, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain security. Retention can vary based on the type of information and the feature involved.
Leaving a couple removes your access to that shared space and stops future shared access between the accounts. Shared records may remain available to the remaining partner. Using the in-app Delete account action requests deletion of your ShareTime user record and authentication account. Uploaded images, shared records, and provider backups or logs may require additional cleanup or may be retained where needed for the remaining partner, security, or legal reasons. Contact us if you want help with a deletion request.
Security
How information is protected
ShareTime uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. These include authenticated access, Firestore security rules for shared app records, Firebase Storage rules for uploads, and encrypted network transport provided by our service providers. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
